Raising taxes is a nonstarter when Californians already pay among the highest taxes in the nation yet too often receive unreliable services and inefficient programs in return. Instead, the state must act as a better steward of existing resources by auditing wasteful spending and redirecting funds toward core priorities like public safety, rather than continuing to invest in costly, underperforming projects. California does not have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem.
