As Lieutenant Governor, one of my most important constitutional responsibilities will be serving as President of the California State Senate. I will use that position not simply as a ceremonial title but as a platform for leadership, accountability, and bipartisan problem-solving.
I bring unique experience to this responsibility because I have actually served in the California State Senate. I know the institution, its rules, its traditions, and, most importantly, how relationships are built across party lines. I served as Senate Majority Leader, where I was responsible for helping manage the legislative agenda and working with senators with very different political philosophies and constituencies. That experience taught me that effective leadership requires knowing when to fight for principle, when to negotiate, and how to bring people together to achieve results.
As President of the Senate, I will play a major role in moving gubernatorial nominations for confirmation.
