Voter ID

Share your view on the 2026 California ballot proposition that requires voters to show a government-issued photo identification to vote.
I believe it is necessary for first time voters only to establish if one is an eligible voter. In order to vote, people first must register with elections officials. People register to vote in the county where they live. To be eligible to register, a person must be a U.S. citizen, live in California, be at least 18 years old, not currently be in prison, and not be found unable to vote by a court. A voter’s identity is established through the registration process by using their driver’s license number, state identification number, or last four digits of their Social Security number. Voters who do not provide this identifying information through the registration process may be asked to present identification the first time they vote.

Budget

Share your views on California's budget shortfalls and mounting debt. Do you favor cutting spending, raising taxes, or a mix of both to achieve fiscal responsibility?
The No. 1 role of an Assemblymember is to be a responsible steward of the people’s money by prioritizing basic infrastructure, public safety, safe streets and highways, public health, and essential services. That responsibility must also include supporting essential workers and advancing policies that meet diverse housing needs, revitalize neglected communities, removing blight programs, and transform environmentally burdened areas into healthy green spaces. Economic opportunity must also be part of that work. Public investment should deliberately expand pathways for residents and students in underserved and disadvantaged communities, promoting full participation in the economy through education, workforce development, apprenticeships, good-paying jobs, contracting opportunities, and entrepreneurship that creates jobs and builds community wealth.

Israel

Share your view on America's support for Israel.
America First. As a candidate for State Assembly, I recognize that foreign policy and military aid are principally federal responsibilities. My responsibility in Sacramento would be to focus on California and the needs of the district, while being clear about the values that guide my view of U.S. policy. I believe U.S. foreign policy should put America’s interests first. Israel is a longstanding U.S. security partner, and the United States has substantial defense and economic ties with Israel. At the same time, American support should always be subject to oversight, transparency, U.S. law, and a clear assessment of whether the assistance advances American security and foreign-policy interests. I also believe American policy should protect civilians, support humanitarian principles, oppose antisemitism and anti-Arab or anti-Muslim hatred, and pursue diplomacy that reduces conflict rather than prolonging it.

Border

What is your view of President Donald Trump's measures to enhance border security?
I support his border-security measures that are lawful, effective, and humane. The data show that southwest-border encounters declined sharply after the administration tightened entry rules, increased enforcement, ended several parole pathways, and expanded border operations. My approach is simple: keep what is constitutional and demonstrably working, improve what is lawful but ineffective or poorly administered, and reconsider any practice that courts find unlawful or that raises serious due-process or humanitarian concerns. Recent court rulings have, for example, rejected some mandatory-detention practices as unlawful. Border security and the rule of law should reinforce one another. We can secure the border, enforce immigration laws, protect due process, and maintain humane standards at the same time.

Marriage

In 2024, Californians voted to amend the state Constitution to establish marriage as a fundamental right regardless of sex. What is your view on this amendment?
I respect the decision of California voters to establish marriage as a fundamental right under the state Constitution. I also believe government should protect individual civil rights while respecting the religious freedom of people and faith communities to hold and practice their sincerely held beliefs.

Abortion

After the Supreme Court returned abortion policymaking to the states, do you believe that is the correct level of government to decide this issue, or should Congress or the Constitution establish a national standard?
I support a woman’s right to make her own reproductive health decisions within the protections of California law. The U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade and returned abortion regulation to the states and their elected representatives. California voters subsequently amended the state Constitution through Proposition 1 to expressly protect reproductive freedom, including abortion and contraception. As an Assemblymember, I would respect California voters’ decision and the constitutional protections now in place, while supporting appropriate health and safety standards and access to maternal and reproductive health care.

Parental Rights

What is your view of the Supreme Court’s decision supporting a parents’ right to know about their child’s gender issues at school?
It is clear that schools must protect student safety, privacy, and due process, especially in situations where disclosure could place a student at risk. I firmly believe parents have the right to know about significant matters affecting their child at school, and I am not comfortable with schools given authorization to withhold important information from parents as a matter of policy.  My position is that parents should be meaningfully informed and involved in their child’s education, while schools retain appropriate safeguards for student safety and lawful privacy protections. I support the Supreme Court’s decision and actions to protect parental notice rights while this issue is being legally contested.

Vaccines

What is your view of California's vaccine mandate for public school students?
I believe there is sufficient scientific evidence and public health data to support continuing a reasonable vaccination program for California public school students. Any mandate should remain grounded in current medical evidence. This is a matter of public health and safety, and unless sound scientific study and current medical evidence demonstrate otherwise, the mandate should remain in place.
