An Assemblymember has a responsibility to treat taxpayer dollars with the same care families and small businesses must use with their own budgets. California cannot continue relying on temporary fixes, borrowing, or spending beyond sustainable revenues. I would work to identify waste, duplication, and ineffective programs; demand accountability and measurable results from state agencies; and prioritize essential services such as public safety, education, water, roads, and infrastructure. We must address long-term obligations, rebuild reserves, and pursue responsible spending reforms rather than automatically turning to higher taxes and fees. California needs a sustainable budget that lives within its means while protecting essential services and ensuring taxpayers receive value for every dollar spent.
