In committee: Hearing postponed by committee.

Would expand who can legally perform abortions in California and remove the rule limiting certain providers to performing them only in the first trimester. Under this bill, trained and licensed health care professionals such as physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and certified nurse-midwives would be able to perform abortions regardless of how far along the pregnancy is, provided they are properly authorized and have completed the required training. It also would protect California physicians from discipline based solely on abortion-related penalties from other states.
