Would prohibit California health insurers from discriminating against minors and adults based on race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex including pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, and intersex traits. Insurers cannot deny coverage, cancel policies, charge higher costs, or reject claims for these reasons. The bill also gives access to gender-affirming care and other services if similar care is covered for others, while still allowing insurers to deny services for legitimate medical reasons that are not discriminatory.
