Schools would be required to ban smartphones for K-8 students throughout the entire school day including lunch and recess starting July 1, 2027. High schools would still need a phone policy but would have more flexibility. Exceptions would be made for emergencies, medical needs, and special education plans. Schools would also be required to provide at least one way for parents to reach their child during the day.
