The School Safety and Opioid Overdose Prevention Act require K–12 schools to ensure that school resource officers carry naloxone, a medication that can reverse opioid overdoses, while on duty. These officers must be trained to recognize and respond to overdoses when assigned to a school and at least every two years after.
